what this experience is like


My name is Nadezda Zavitaeva, but most people call me Nadia. I've been photographing people for more than a decade, and what I'm looking for has never changed: I want to see what's really there.


I love the light and atmosphere of old paintings. The way light changes a face, how colors work together, and how an ordinary moment can become a portrait.


My small studio in Mountlake Terrace is where I explore this most, creating portraits of women, expectant mothers, and mothers with their children. I also photograph families at home and outdoors in Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, and other Eastside communities.


Some sessions are carefully planned, others are more spontaneous. The setting changes, but my curiosity about people stays the same.
